THERAPEUTIC MEDIATION

Mediation for businesses in Kent

Conflict resolution and mediation in small businessIt can be hard when realtionships break down in the workplace, and not just for the people directly involved. I offer a facilitated day to help improve conflict or disagreement within the workplace.  This is ideal if relationships have broken down and you want to improve the situation for everyone involved.

Why use mediation for difficult relationships in the workplace?

  • Improved relationships for the participants

  • This therapeutic mediation, not an official process so can be a softer approach emphasising collaboration to find a way forward

  • As an employer, you are showing support and understanding

  • Improved retention, not just with the participants, but other staff who see that you take action

  • An impartial facilitator will see this from a new and different angle to someone who is in the same workplace, or may be too close to the issue

  • Getting everyone back to productive and creative working.

The aims of mediation

The aim is to create specific goals to help mend this relationship. The approach is collaborative and future-focused: we are looking for solutions, not focusing on blame. As psychotherapist, I am skilled in offering a supportive environment where everyone feels heard and safe.

Conflict Resolution or mediation between two colleagues is a proactive and often positive process to resolve rather than suppress conflict. We work collaboratively to address tangible and positive changes, whether that is in behaviour or an approach to an issue, or both. In this way, conflict can be seen as a productive force and participants increase their knowledge and skills along the way.

The process includes:

  • DISC profiling to provide a big-picture idea on what’s going on

  • Short introductory calls with each participant to introduce myself, reassure and answer any questions about the process

  • An hour long meeting with each participant to allow them to feel heard and understood. This is followed by a facilitated session to work towards agreeing on changes, goals and intentions.

Coaching

There is also an option for further coaching if the participants would like to embed new and more productive communication. You can book a chat with me to discuss here.
