Dr Lisa Orban on Your Health and Career Under Covid-19
Are you experiencing issues around your health, wellbeing and career under Covid-19? Over the last few weeks I have been working with clinical psychologist Dr Lisa Orban of Golden Notebook on two guides to what’s going on right now. The first centres around how to find your way in this new and unsteady world.
It ties in well with my interest in Wicked Problems – continuously moving situations with no definitive solution, and where solving one part could have repercussions for another. This is something we are truly seeing right now. The lockdown (which is keeping us safe) is impacting not only our economy but also the cases of domestic abuse, and mental health issues.

Bringing together her extensive training, experience and passion in both psychology and branding, Lisa Orban founded Golden Notebook. A clinical psychologist, Dr Orban trained and practised in New York City for eleven years before relocating to London. Along with her clinical work, Dr Orban helps clients make a name for themselves by discovering their distinct and authentic personal brand.
We are currently in a situation where there are no easy solutions. However, Dr Orban has produced this guide to help. It’s a fascinating approach to what is going on now, as as our experience will differ whether we are an extrovert or introvert, big picture thinker or small detail person, thinker or feeler etc. You’ll also gain insight into what’s going on for the other people around you, and how you can help them – or give them some space.
Your Career Under Covid-19
It’s especially interesting for those of us juggling working with lockdown as this small excerpt on introverts illustrates:
Introverts (I). Many people are talking about how introverts are
welcoming this enforced period of social distancing and yet the reality is
that many of them will now be living 24-7 with other people, with little or
no chance of having their own space. As an Introvert, you may find this
enforced closeness stifling, and so it will be important right now to make
space in your immediate environment. You may want to explain that
taking some downtime is an important part of staying healthy (e.g., taking
care of yourself so you can take care of others). Be assertive with those
around you when taking it. For example, let others know that you would
like to schedule half an hour of quiet, uninterrupted time…to read, work
on a hobby, etc.
